IT Leadership That Sits on Your Side of the Table
Helping small and mid-market organizations with technology decisions that go beyond keeping the lights on.
Technology problems aren't always technology problems
Sometimes they’re leadership gaps. Decisions that get made on the fly because there’s always something more pressing. Costs drift because nobody has time to audit them. Vendors go unaccountable because managing them hasn’t been specified as anyone’s full-time job. Thinking three years ahead can feel like a luxury when staying on top of today already takes everything you have.
Things that go sideways, usually do it quietly and almost always at the worst possible time. Sometimes all one needs is an advocate in their corner, someone whose job it is to watch for these things.
I started N.O. IT Strategy because I’ve been on both sides of that problem. I’ve led IT for small and mid-market organizations with 8-figure revenue streams and I’ve built and run my own businesses from the ground up. I know what it looks like when technology is working. And I know what it costs when it isn’t.
Whatever stage your business is in, there’s a path forward.
Nonprofits welcome. With a background in nonprofit IT, I offer verified nonprofits discounted rates.
PATH 1 - THE GROWING ORGANIZATION
We have IT Support, what we need now is IT Leadership.
Your MSP keeps the lights on. Your team handles the day-to-day.
What’s missing is someone who owns the bigger picture, strategy, risk, vendor accountability and a roadmap that actually reflects where you’re headed.
I step in as your Fractional IT Director or virtual CIO (vCIO). Bringing structure, clarity, and real ownership to your technology environment.
PATH 2 - THE NEW BUSINESS OWNER
I'm building something new and I want to get the foundation right.
You're moving fast and there's a lot to figure out. Most new businesses get the basics up and running, then slowly spend the next two years fixing what they originally missed.
I help you set up your new businesses digital foundation correctly from day one: your website, email, domain, phone system, security, and the tools that will scale with you.
No rework. No rebuilding. Just a clean, secure, scalable foundation from the start.
PATH 3 - WE WANT TO BRING "IT" IN-HOUSE
We've outgrown our MSP and we are ready to build our own IT team.
This is a big move and most organizations have never done it before. Get it wrong and you're dealing with months of disruption, gaps in coverage, and a new IT hire who's drowning.
I help you plan and execute the full transition from managed services to internal IT. We build out the right structure, select the right tools, and set your new team up to succeed from day one.
PATH 4 - BOUTIQUE IT SERVICES
Focused Engagements. Clear Deliverables. No Retainer Required.
Not every challenge requires ongoing IT leadership. Sometimes you need a specific problem solved. A risk identified, or a gap closed, with a defined scope and something tangible to show for it at the end.
These are standalone engagements built around a single objective. You know what you're getting, and you know when it's done.
A little about me.
I'm Nate Olson. The N.O. in N.O. IT Strategy, my initials, my company, my commitment to the organizations I work with.
I've spent 16+ years in IT. Earning my way up working inside MSPs, in leadership roles, and as a business owner.
My most recent role was IT Director for a mid-market organization operating across diverse geographic locations. Before that, I built and scaled a 7-figure national eCommerce business where I owned the entire technology stack from infrastructure to platform to digital presence.
I've also founded multiple other businesses of my own, so when I sit down with a business owner, I'm not just the IT guy. I understand the decisions you're making, the pressure you're under, and why technology needs to support your mission, not complicate it.
No vendor incentives. No product bias. Just honest guidance.
Here's what getting started looks like.
Step 1 - We Talk
Schedule a free strategy call. No pitch, no pressure. Just a real conversation about where you are and what you're dealing with.
Step 2 - I Assess
I take a clear look at your current environment, priorities, and goals and give you an honest picture of where things stand.
Step 3 - We Build a Plan
Together we define what good IT leadership looks like for your organization and we get to work.
Free White Paper: The IT Leadership Gap
Most organizations do not wake up one day with a technology crisis.
The problems build quietly.
Vendors go unmanaged. Costs drift. Security expectations are unclear. Internal teams get stretched thin. Leadership loses confidence. Technology decisions happen reactively instead of intentionally.
This white paper walks through a real-world example of what happens when an organization has IT support, but no clear IT leadership and what becomes possible when that gap is closed.
Inside, you’ll see how strategic IT leadership helped rebuild executive trust, modernize aging infrastructure, establish cybersecurity and AI governance, clean up digital sprawl, and move IT from a source of frustration to a function leadership trusted, relied on, and invested in.
