Payment integrity

Payment Integrity & BEC Controls Review

Your company approved the payment. Did the money go to the right person?

A vendor's banking details change by email, or someone posing as an executive asks for an urgent payment. Your team follows the usual approval, and the money still lands in the wrong account.

I review how vendor banking changes, ACH approvals, payroll changes and finance identity actually work in your company. You receive procedures your team puts in place, a monitoring plan with clear owners, and a readout that ends with your sign-off.

Who it is for

Who this is for

This review is built for CFOs, controllers, and finance ops leads at SMBs of about 5 to 200 people who already have an MSP or internal IT.

It fits teams that originate ACH for vendor pay, payroll, or collections. It also fits leaders who have a bank request for fraud-monitoring documentation, or expect one after Nacha Phase 2.

If the tools are in place but nobody owns the payment-fraud procedures, that is the gap I close.

This is not for teams that need a payment platform, an MSP replacement, forensic work after a loss, or a signed compliance attestation.

Nacha Phase 2

Why this matters now

Nacha's Fraud Monitoring Phase 2 rules have been in effect since June 2026, and they apply to every business that originates ACH payments, no matter the volume. You need risk-based processes meant to catch payments that are unauthorized or made under false pretenses, which covers business email compromise, vendor impersonation and payroll redirects. You also have to review those processes at least once a year.

Nacha's own FAQ notes that originators are well placed to run change controls on vendor and payroll payment details. That is the kind of procedure this review helps you document and evidence.

I don't certify Nacha compliance. Your financial institution and counsel own that determination. Nacha's rules also don't change how liability is allocated under UCC Article 4A.

Deliverables

What you receive

You receive outcomes you can use with a bank, broker, or board. How I get there stays inside the engagement.

  1. A payment-fraud risk map tied to your vendor pay, ACH credit and payroll workflows
  2. Dual-control and out-of-band callback procedures written for your team to put in place
  3. A monitoring plan that names who owns each control, how exceptions get escalated, how payment anomalies get reviewed, and how often the process is checked
  4. A control evidence summary that separates what's verified from what's assumed
  5. A prioritized gap list with clear ownership language for your IT provider
  6. An annual review checklist aligned to Nacha's at-least-annually expectation
  7. An executive readout that ends with your sign-off on the procedures and owners

A procedure only protects you once your team actually follows it. Your team puts these procedures in place, and the readout ends with leadership signing off on them.

Optional add-on: a 90-minute leadership tabletop on a scripted BEC or vendor-change scenario.

Most engagements finish in about 2 to 3 weeks. Most of the work happens remotely.

The Cyber Insurance Readiness Review looks at your security controls and the representations you make to your insurer. This review looks at the financial processes that decide whether a payment is legitimate.
